Areas of Practice

Automobile

While the Whittington Law Group has represented thousands of people in automobile accidents, it is capable of representing people in wrongful death and very serious personal injury accidents. For these types of accidents, the key is retaining the best and brightest of experts to make sure that the wronged party makes a full recovery.

After the investigators do their job, liability experts are often needed to recreate how the accident actually occurred. The Whittington Law Group employs the best experts in all fields to make sure that the evidence is there to win an automobile case. Likewise, medical experts are consulted to establish that the trauma from the accident was the actual medical cause of the injury or death. Vocational rehabilitation and economic loss experts are frequently used to establish the amount of lost future wages and household services that a tragedy has inflicted upon the families of automobile accident victims.

The Whittington Law Group is equipped to handle any accident scenario, and retains and uses a wide variety of methods to maximize the amount of recovery for their clients.

Large Truck Accidents

The commercial trucking industry is very active across the United States and when one of these trucks makes a mistake, the consequences are often very serious. The Whittington Law Group has focused a large portion of its practice on these types of accidents.

There are now over 8 million commercial trucks on the road each day. Commercial trucks make up 3 percent of all motor vehicles on the road, yet they account for 13 percent of all deaths and/or catastrophic injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents. The reason for this is simple. Commercial trucks, known commonly as 18-wheelers, weigh anywhere from 15,000 to 90,000 pounds, depending on the goods being delivered. When a truck of this kind is involved with a passenger car, the mass of the truck is so much greater than the mass of the car that the tragic result is often death or serious injury to the passengers.

In considering the potential for serious danger that commercial trucks pose to motorists and the public, Congress passed the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR). The rules and regulations which this law describes require commercial truck companies and drivers to keep certain records. The FMCSR regulates how many hours per day and per week a driver can operate a rig. With in-depth knowledge and the experience we have regarding the FMCSR, we have been able to uncover numerous violations that work to our clients’ advantage.

Additionally, we have on hand a team of top-level trucking experts who are leaders in the fields of trucking company and driver violations of the FMCSR, commercial truck accident reconstruction, the hiring, training and driving practices of truck drivers, as well as truck driver field of vision, perception and reaction time.

The Whittington Law Group is committed to obtaining full justice for the victims of commercial trucking accidents.

Offshore/Maritime

Accidents that happen offshore or in our waterways are governed by special rules that require specialized knowledge and skill in this area of the law. It is very important to have a law firm available that specializes in this type of accident law because so many men and women in the Gulf Coast area work in the maritime industry.

The Whittington Law Firm has affected great success representing workers aligned with the maritime business and/or offshore industry. We represent all types of maritime workers including seamen, deckhands, toolpushers, roustabouts, floormen, roughnecks, rig mechanics, crane operators, derrickmen, motormen, drillers, boatswains and boat captains as well as others. From making sure that the maritime employers pay for the housing and medical care of their injured employees to obtaining recovery for lost, past and future wages, we have had great success in serving our clients.

Many of these accidents occur on various types of watercraft or vessels such as jack-up rigs, ferry boats, crewboats, fixed platforms, submersible and semi-submersible rigs, barges and tugboats. This firm has a profound understanding of the difficulties associated with litigation for accidents that occur on all of these types of vessels and watercraft.

There are unique challenges and complexities in the practice of maritime law above and beyond those that a lawyer typically encounters. The Whittington Law Group is prepared to meet and overcome any barrier between its clients and justice.

Pharmacist Professional Responsibility

The Whittington Law Group realizes the leadership role that being a pharmacist plays in our society. Even with the best of intentions, a pharmacist may very well be accused of violating their ethical obligations which, in turn, often results in the need to appear before the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.

At our law firm, we offer confidential counseling and advice in defense of ethical complaints and charges. Not only do we offer advice for preventing and responding to complaints of ethical misconduct, we represent pharmacists in all stages of disciplinary proceedings.

Christopher L. Whittington of the Whittington Law Group is trained and available to help navigate pharmacists through this process.

Wrongful Death

Sometimes the worst happens and, as a result of an accident, a loved one is lost. The loss may occur as a consequence of an automobile wreck, chemical exposure, commercial truck accident or some other terrible occurrence. Throughout the years, the Whittington Law Group has assisted many of the families who were victims of a wrongful death accident. The legal system is unable to bring anyone back. The Whittington Law Group is dedicated to fighting for your loved one’s memory and making sure that those left behind are financially protected.

In wrongful death litigation, the deceased is unfortunately unable to tell the jury what happened, making this type of case much different from other serious personal injury cases. The deceased is not in court to tell the jury about relationships with loved ones. The Whittington Law Group has developed many techniques, through jury selection and by the use of experts, to make sure that the jury understands the depth of love that is lost in a wrongful death claim as well as the absolute need to make sure that the surviving family members must be made financially secure.

The Whittington Law Group understands the pain experienced by our clients who have lost loved ones and is committed to honoring their memory and ensuring that the family members are assured.
